‘Volunteering for All?’

Everyone and anyone who wants to volunteer can…of course they can…can’t they?!
Well…no actually and for some people there are seemingly insurmountable barriers and hurdles to overcome before they get anywhere near being able to offer their time, skills and love for a cause they care deeply about. So much so, that for some people the barriers are not broken down and the opportunity for them to give and gain via volunteering is frustrated and lost. How can those of us working to engage volunteers help to kick over the barriers and are there ways in which we might actually be creating them?
During this Forum we’ll be examining what can get in the way of people wanting to volunteer and how we can share ideas and practice aimed at making volunteering genuinely more accessible for everyone.
This meeting of our ever-popular Forum will take place at Zu Studios which is an arts centre, venue and meeting place, serving the community of Lewes and beyond. As well as all the usual Forum elements; topical discussion, local and national volunteering news and plenty of networking, there will also be an opportunity to enjoy the space and gain a sense of the inspiration, education and celebration that Zu has brought into so many people’s lives over the past nine years. This Forum will be facilitated by Lee Shepherd, Volunteer Centre East Sussex’s, Volunteering Development Coordinator who is a qualified trainer with over twenty years experience of directly managing volunteers and supporting groups to work with volunteers.
Attendance at all the Forums is completely free but there are limited places and demand for places is usually high, so to be sure of your place, please book early.
